TAPIOCA - THE STORY OF THE FILM
Tapioca is a slang expression used to describe a state of financial ruin. When someone is broke they are tapped-out, Tap City, Tapioca. This film is adapted from the stage show written by Mike Houlihan in March of 2004 and performed at the Beverly Arts Center. The film tells the story of stand-up comedian Pipes McGonigle, who has a semi-successful career doing used car commercials. Pipes is cursed by a destitute street vendor who casts a spell, sending the stand-up comic on a fantastical journey into the underworld of the homeless. As he meets the various personalities of homeless people, his character learns of the inherent dignity of every man. Tapioca is a comic tale of redemption set on the streets of Chicago.
While the film is a comedy, it does have a very strong social message regarding charity to our neighbor. Tapioca has been called "Freddie the freeloader meets Travis Bickle."
Tapioca, LLC (“Company”) will be formed for the purpose of producing, marketing and distributing a film, written by Mike Houlihan, (“Author”) entitled TAPIOCA (“Film”). The Company will also be formed for the purpose of exploiting and turning to account the rights at any time held by the Company in connection therewith.
The Company will be formed upon or prior to the sale of 50 Units and the receipt by Mike Houlihan, as the “Manager” of the Company, of capital contributions totaling $250,000(or such lesser amount as the Manager determines is sufficient to produce the Film but in no event less than $100,000) by the filing of a duly executed Certificate of Formation with the Delaware Secretary of State Office. The investors in the Company, referred to herein as “Members,” will receive 50% of the net profits of the Company and the Manager will receive 50% of such profits after the date on which cash distributions equal 200% of the Initial Cash Contribution of the Members.
